Maybe A Rare Gem...

As some of you amigos are aware, I dabble in the ancient art of woodworking. Accompanying that actual act of molding and shaping wood into functional items is the somewhat obsessive act of studying woodworking techniques, reading woodworking articles and forums, and bookmarking several woodworking websites that I visit on a daily basis. One such site is a place where professionals and hobbyists alike come together and post pictures of their latest projects. The vast majority of them are incredibly impressive. Even the ones I don't love, I often am able to respect the craftsmanship that went into them. However, every now and then, there pops up what I have affectionately labeled"Gems". As in, "Wow! That's a real gem!"

Gems are pieces that I personally just think are awful. My first thought is usually, "This guy obviously has some woodworking ability, why in the world did he spend time and effort building that!?" Which is usually accompanied by the thought, "And why the heck did he post it on the internet for the whole world to see!?" Cause let's be honest, we have all made pieces or projects that we're not real proud of.

This is one of my favorite Gems of all time. The below piece is a magic table that a fellow lumberjock built for his stepson Bill. Bill is trying to get into the magic show business in order to support himself through college. And no, I truly did not make that up.

A picture really does say a thousand words. A thousand funny ones in this case:

I can't decide if Bill's "crossing-guard reflector jacket" is part of the magician outfit or not.

$100 bucks says Bill loved the Harry Potters.

Maybe...

LOL! That last post for sure tweeked a whole lot of peoples! Ha ha. Just laugh.

And why the hockey sticks don't any of these books in the margins have titles? It's like maddening. Pretty sure I had a nightmare about being in a store or library looking for a book on endless shelves of nameless faceless books.

Seriously Potterphiles, just laugh. That last post was friggin' funny.

Maybe Staying On Top of Pop Culture...

Well, of course, the biggest thing going on this week is the last and final installment of Harry Poshter 7.2! Or, wait, was the last one 6.5 and this one is 7.0? Help me out fans. So, most of you who have read the books already know the story. But for those of you who haven't delved into that ghoulish wizardly world of books and want to know, here are the 7 biggest spoilers from the newest flick:

1. Snickelbrack, who was caught in a gragglepot, narrowly escapes.
2. Harry finally squibs Bucklebeaks with Bagley the Hufflepuff.
3. Stanley Floffyflibble becomes a muggleboffs.
4. The house of Poshelpoos fobble the Fibblefabs with their Quibblybobs.
5. Mike does find happiness.
6. Blashendorf gronglegrinks a wigglygoosh flondendale while shifflewobbling in the dinkle dank.
7. Seriously... these movies/books are retarded.

Mazel tov. Gazuntite.

Snicklesnoggyglobbledyblop.

BLURG!!! Suck it Potter.

Maybe It's A New Beginning...

Well, this certainly feels... academic. Appropriate? Probably not. But you know what I have to say to that? Suck it! I like books. I can put them on my bloggy blog if I want, no matter how un-academic my writings and rantings may be. What, are the blog police going to arrest me? That's just ridiculous.

Okay, well kind of that's all I have right now. It's late. And I have a big day at Seven Peaks tomorrow. But I feel good about this. It's a good re-start. Baby steps and all.

Uh-huh.
